Whether it's space, image, text, object or system, design is always also communication. Against the background of the growing radicalization, segmentation and polemization of social discourses, the relationship between design and communication seems more volatile than ever. New means of communication, channels, spaces and systems are constantly emerging. Machines, objects, even entire environments become independent actors who communicate with us and interact on various media. The 15th ANNUAL MEETING OF THE GERMAN COMPANY FOR THE THEORY OF DESIGN AND RESEARCH, called "Matters of Communication", created among other things a space for discussion on what are the pioneering approaches and methods of project research in relation to communication through and within contemporary forms of expression.
On the first day of the conference, Prof. Matteo Moretti and Alvise Mattozzi of the Free University of Bolzano presented a report entitled: Participatory Data Phisycalization - Designing Informative Experience, with the results of the research funded by Prevention For You and launched with the event of Participatory Diagrams of TEDMEDLive 2017.
Here the abstract of the report and shortly the publication of the proceedings
